Administrative and Accounting Officer

BCom seeks a qualified and experienced candidate for the position of Junior Accountant. This is a full time position based in Beirut-Lebanon and very essential to the company’s activities. Office hours are Mon-Fri 09:30-17:30. Salary range depends on experience and qualifications and includes transportation allowances and NSSF. Only applicants, who have carefully reviewed the below, and comply fully with the requirements, will be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update and book transactions using the company’s accounting software on a weekly basis including but not limited to journal entries, general ledgers accounts analysis, trial balances etc.
  • Reconcile bank statements and suppliers' statements
  • Handle the petty cash
  • Process incoming and outgoing checks
  • Control incoming invoices against purchase orders and contracts
  • Monitor the approval process of invoices
  • Administer payments for invoices and salaries either by bank transfers or check payments; salaries include payrolls, taxes and NSSF calculations.
  • Prepare weekly reports of the accounts payables and receivables and schedule payments in view of projected cash flow report
  • Follow up billing of customers for services and projects
  • Assist the management in administrative issues:
    • Booking travel flights, checking visa requirements and provide supporting documents, and booking Hotel accommodation for staff on missions
    • Review and summarize miscellaneous reports and documents
    • Maintain employee files
    • Monitor all contracts
    • Request material and services suppliers quotations
    • Prepare Purchase Orders.
    • Coordinate with Freight Forwarders
    • Regularly update and keep accurate records of project progress 
  • Report inconveniences in the accounting department to the director and propose remedies
  • Perform the periodic adjustments transactions and period end closing

Qualifications and skills:

  • University degree in Business or equivalent major with excellent accounting knowledge
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with IFRS
  • Knowledge of the Lebanese Government rules and regulations related to accounting practices
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels within and outside the organization
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office software suite including Excel, Word, Access and Outlook
  • Good working knowledge of computer based accounting systems (preferably www.Orange-2000.com accounting software)
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in Arabic, English, and French.
  • Meticulous approach, positive self-esteem, high energy, and ability to focus despite interruptions and multitasking
  • Pro-active approach to planning, organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently within a team cooperation, with good problem-solving skills, prompt follow-up on details
